The Oregon coast is riddled with skateparks; from Astoria, Lincoln City, Reedsport all the way to Brookings. As we speak they are building a new one on Coos Bay. Lincoln City is probably the masterpiece of them all but for the this story we hung to the Southernmost part of the state. The coast is beautiful and full of a lot of surfing potential. Big wilderness stacked up against the ocean with sleepy little towns. A long ways from So Cal or New York or even Portland.

The Hellgate of the Rogue River near Grants Pass. Not far from where this river, famous for rafting goes into the wilderness with no road access for many miles

There are two roads form Grants Pass to the coast; highway 299 and this little road I took, a 66 mile one lane road through Bigfoot country

See, told you – one lane for 66 miles

Just some wild berries, the Rogue river near where it comes out of the wilderness at the junction with the Illinois river. You could camp on the bank there, catch fish eat berries and live for weeks if you wanted

The town of Port Orford Oregon is home to the first cradle built (Dreamland) in the US. It was modeled after on in Austria. The bottom was wet from rain so I had to sacrifice some old socks and underwear. Skated alone for an hour, no one even stopped by, so bring your own crew, or do it it up loner style like me

The actual harbor of Port Orford, they put boats in the water with some crazy crane

Brookings Oregon is so fun, kind of a race track around a pool

The inner pool was fun in it’s own right. From right to left over the pool is a big air type thing. I remember seeing video of Alex Chalmers doing a 360 over it

The street area being properly used. Brooking kind of reminded of the town in the movie Lost Boys.

On to the land of the Giants – the redwoods

My Dad had a grove of Redwoods named after my Grandma

Do you think Fern Canyon is an appropriate name for this spot

The entrance to Fern Canyon, you swear you will see Ewoks or maybe bigfoot

back to LAX, there are not too many 777’s in Southern Oregon
