Are you sick like me? Don’t misunderstand me. No I don’t mean sick in the sick way as in “Yo bro that’s sick!” but in the sick way as in under the weather sick. You know, the flu kind of sickness? What I’m trying to say is that I’m pretty sick right now. I’ve had this flu for a over a week now and it doesn’t feel like it’s ever going to go away. Seems like a lot of people are getting it. Almost every one I know has it. But then again maybe that’s because everyone shares the same bong. So please excuse me for my randomness. I’m feeling pretty dopey on this cold medicine.
So as I sit here all doped up thinking what to write about this week I had a thought. Pool skaters, as in people that like to ride skateboards in backyard swimming pools are a funny bunch. They get super sentimental about this skateboard stuff. So much that they cant resist taking a piece of the pool with them when they leave it. Why? I’m not sure. Maybe it’s to remember the pool? Maybe it’s because they know it wont be there forever. Maybe it’s because old pools are just that. Old. They have a certain kind of class to them if that makes any sense to you.
Think about it? Do you see street skaters keeping pieces of the stairs or a piece of their favorite handrail or ledge. Maybe they do but then again I don’t skate too many stairs or rails these days..(Like I really ever did) It’s most likely because stairs and rails don’t get demolished. They just get capped. But then again I bet a bunch of street heads have pieces of EMB when they demoed it. So maybe I’m just rambling about nothing. Pretty much what it comes down to is that all skaters are sentimental about this stuff. Why? Do I really have to say it? This skateboarding thing isn’t a sport. It’s a lifestyle.
Regardless I’m sick! Here’ some photos of some skateboard memorabilia and a few shots of Scotty Keller aka Sketchy Goat Killer with a loveseat corner truckbash. Have a good weekend. -Brooks
