Lately I’ve been thinking about my favorite skate sessions of the year cause well, it’s just that time of the year in my area of New York State, the snow is on it’s way, it’s about thirty degree’s out and skateboarding outside may be the most uncomfortable, and painful venture possible. When I was younger this could wouldn’t bother me so much but my “old man” bones don’t do too well in the cold anymore and something is always sore. I could just be making excuses on why I shouldn’t actually go out and skateboard, you can think what you want, but if I were out skating this blog wouldn’t be existent so sit back and chill out. Here photo’s from my favorite sessions of the year, I know there are only a few but i lose a lot of them to on over active need for an organized computer.
-This is Chris Bartowski as shot by Carrie Reiter. Chris is actually a Am for the snowboard company APO, but still somehow manages to kill it on a skateboard. He has a ton of style on a skateboard, and everytime I skate with him seems to pull tricks out of nowhere like it’s no big deal. I think of all my friends Chris inspires me the most to skate and to follow what my heart feels, if it weren’t for this kid, I would just be another college kid with zero aspiration. Thanks.
-This is a photo shot by Erik Roman, this is from the Back to the Banks in NYC from this summer. I believe it’s Willy Aikers watching Danny Falla do a back lip. This trip has definitely had a ton of lasting effects on my life, it was the first trip I took for skateboardrev, and really made me realize what I wanted to do with my life. We later did a little profile on Erik, so check it out in the riders section if you like his photo’s.
-If you strain your eyes you can see a good friend of mine, Eric O’Connor who is mid free fall, and on his way to the chilly water at Emerald pools in Lake Tahoe. I spent a good deal of my Summer in Tahoe. Eric shattered his foot last year snowboarding, but refuses to let his possibly life changing injury hold him back. He lives with a certain zest for life that is amazing, if everyone had as much energy, and happiness inside them as Eric, the world would get a lot more done.
-I have skated with Brandon for years and still haven’t seen him skate to his full potential. On rare days he will just kill it, and kill it, and kill it. Watching this kid skate on days like that is amazing, he can really land anything he wants. Here he is doing a kickflip to fakie at a skatepark in Upstate New York. Another reason I love this photo, is because it reminds me that most of my friends have kept with skateboarding in one way or another.
-Alex Davis is a weird guy, and he’s had his share of injuries this year because he is starting to get old. I love skateboarding with him because he has a completely different approach to skateboarding than anyone else I have ever met. He has such a passion for the skateboard that I think it may have driven him insane. He also has the best kickflips, and can switch ollie anything. He is moving to San Diego soon and will definately be making a name for himself.
-Sorry, but I had to do it. This is one of the rare photo’s this year that I had shot of myself. It’s shot by one of my good friends Steven Drake and it was for the benefit we did for the McKinnon Family. This is a 360 flip to fakie, and I’m pretty sure this is the photo from the make. This session was fun because I was on the getting my picture taking side of the camera, rather than the taking the picture side of the camera. I like it because I’m vain, and I like checking myself out… I actually just like it because it looks neat, and it shows that the person who writes the news you read actually rides a skateboard… unlike other websites!
