So my main home boy and the dude who will get 3 million if I win the lotto I been playing will be this guy. Brooks fritz is the most illmatic most grass roots rad photographer I have ever had the pleasure to work with. So we embarked on an epic journey one fall after noon. It was like the lord of the rings meets Jesus meets some kind of crazy day in the sun heat stroke deal.
Anyway here is the story: So my good friend and Pastor, Dan Matsomoto, is a great man who lives his religion, rather than many who preach it, but do not live in it. He was there for me when I was dead. No joke, I was dead at one time, in a hospital bed full of an infection in my brain. Doctors told my family I was not going to make it and to start planning my funeral, etc. Dan showed up and I shit you negative, pardon my french, sometimes there are no words better for a situation, he prayed over me when I was in a coma and I rose up. My body then started to fight the infection and my white blood cell count dropped and I recovered after 3 weeks of being on insane drugs in ICU. Anyway, 4 years later my boy Dan called me up and asked if I could come to a summer camp in Vista, California and share this story. As well as put on a one man skate demo for them. I have his back like a car seat and owe him for my life, no joke. Well, him and the doctors that charged me on top of my health plan 4 grand, but that is another story. So I went to this camp and noticed this rad ditch with water and ducks. The spot is crazy. It’s pretty surreal to find spot like this in Southern killer Cali. So I took a mental note and one month later I hit Dan up to get me the secret hand shake and code to enter the camp. This place is on lock down harder than Fort Brag, no joke. So Brooks and I, as well as Dan as Moses, to part the rent a cops like a sea, entered the camp. We swept up the ditch and Dan’s son Riley skated as well. We had a blast of fun. Dan skated, I skated and Brooks skated and ripped it up. We had fun. It was rad, the Jesus dudes let us in their compound to shred their virgin ditch. We got some great photos that I thought they would be worthy of some kind of magazine exposure. Like in a photo issue or something along those lines. I forgot I don’t ride for anybody who has a budget of $200,000 a month to host an ad campaign in any mag.
I am sure if Brooks took, lets say Dylan Reider to
this same ditch and he did the same tail block or whatever I am sure it
would have been used. Anyway, who cares, that’s water under the bridge.
