Yeah. It’s still cool. What am I talking about? Pool skating. Yes, backyard pools are still in. The only reason I skate these things is because it’s popular. If it wasn’t cool I don’t think I would ever step foot in one of them. With that being said here’s some photos of some super cool guys that are really concerned with the skate scene. Texas Dan and Slob skating a backyard pit in Carlsbad, California.

Hmmmmm hot pockets. Aren’t they great? So while everyone else is busy focusing on going bigger and bigger with giant cool guy bowls and super sized mega ramps and gaps and rails that could possibly kill you I’m riding the fun shit. Mirco machines! I mean seriously a mega ramp? Are you trying to ride that thing? Or how about  a 20 ft bowl? If you are good for you but that’s not for me. I’m not trying to kid myself and I’m not trying to knock that jock stuff either but that’s pretty much what it takes to ride that super sized big boy stuff.

And well, thank god I’m getting more and more comfortable with being a pussy

I was too busy skating when Ry was rolling in all over the place and trying to get his first front side backyard shallow end grind. He did get some backside ones in though

No this is not a photo of Darrel crying. This is a photo of Darrel crushing the fuck out of this shallow end with a front side grind where 97 out of 100 people would be crying trying to get a grind.

No it’s nothing like the fake shallow end at your local skate park. It’s the real thing and it’s not easy.

What is this? Tricks? Get that garbage outta here? Don’t you know we only front side grind and back side grind backyard pools. I guess Kyle didn’t get the memo that tricks aren’t allowed and did a crail in the shallow. I thought I was going to get hit in the temple so I geeked the photo.

Whoa Duuude! That would be totally cool if it was 1974. What are you doing front side carve grinding cant you just stand up on that brick coping?

Got kicked out real quick. Maybe got two runs each then one of the tenants came out bitching. Some ghetto ass guy who just got out of jail/prison wanting 20 bucks to stay. We were over it so we left to find something else. Hassle free hopefully.

We found this one by accident. We were driving in the area looking for the new Fabio’s giant amoeba when we spotted this one from the road. Seriously go take a drive and you will find something….

The shallow end in this pool was ridiculous. I sure love it when they got good shallows. I’m actually able to feel like I can still skate a pool…..

Why do they call him Barefoot Mike? Maybe it’s because he only skates barefoot. Makes sense huh?

Mike left foot prints all over the face wall from running out of these gorilla grip frontside grinds a few times…. shit is crazy!

My Skateboard 2004: I cant believe the tank of a skateboard I used to ride. 9 inch decks, risers, and 62’s………

Mira Costa College, Oceanside, California: I enroll or more like used to enroll at this college just to use their darkroom. This rock sculpture is right by the photo room. Pretty cool.

Pat Duffy, backside smith, Donald Oregon, 2003: After skating Burnside for a few hours my friend Luke and I drove to Donald. The plan was to sleep in the bowl that night and then drive back to California the next day. I’ve slept in the bowl a few times so it was a no brain-er to go back. We figured we would grab some 6 packs of tall cans and have a mellow night. Guess again, when we rolled up there was a giant RV and a crowd of people. What the hell is this? A Kronick Energy drink bowl barney party? Nope, it was a Transworld blowout photo shoot.

I was pissed people were at Donald, but hyped at the same time since I had a chance to take some pictures. I saw my friend Jon Holland ( ooh name dropping ) and asked if he wouldn’t mind if I took some photos. He could care less but said I should go ask Dave Swift. (more name dropping) I had never met Dave before so I was a little intimidated approaching him about permission poaching. But to my luck, Dave was cool and didn’t give a fuck. I was stoked, I went and grabbed my camera and started taking some pictures trying not to get in the way.

People are funny sometimes… Some photo/film monkeys weren’t to happy about me being a non Transworld dude/bro and started trying to purposely get in front of my lens so I couldn’t get photos. Quite pathetic if you ask me but whatever, I ignored it and managed to get a couple of shots. The T world circus bailed and me and Luke were left by ourselves to laugh about it and pass out in the bowl……Thanks Jon and Dave for being cool. To the others…… as the beer beagle would say “two double x thumbs down”!

Davey Rockit, fs grind, Pala Pool, 2003: When it wasn’t blown out, when it still had good coping over the light, when there was still a light, when there still was the slide, when there was still dirt on the deck, before the parties ruined it, and most of all before we all lost complete interest in skating this pool.

J-Rad Smith, Kendal Washington, 2003: This a photo of Jared using a Pabst Blue Ribbon smoking device. You haven’t lived until you smoked out of a aluminum can……

Zalba Wells, backside smith, Cactus Flat Square pool, California desert, 2003: Zach becomes Zalba when he skates pools. We convinced this RV park owner to skate his empty square. The whole family came out to watch but lost interest quickly when they realized we weren’t going to do any of the tricks they had seen on the X games.

Chairman of the board, Ryan Williams, boohyah stalefish, Borrego Springs California: Out in the middle of nowhere in the Borrego desert is this skatepark. They wanted 10 bucks or something to skate it. I conned the skatepark staff into letting us skate for free since we were “professionals” and were out there to do a skatepark review.

Rays Pool, Clairemont California: Heard it might be done soon. Or maybe it is done?

Lance Mtn: Layback grind, Donald Oregon: Same night as the TWS blow out. Lance was cool…..

Grind Master Matt Gasby, Negro pool, North County San Diego: Permission pool ruined by high school shit heads…. still empty, still off limits… Way to go…
